FANDANGONOW, SONY PICTURES HOME ENTERTAINMENT, AND VUBIQUITY ARE RECOGNIZED FOR ACHIEVEMENT IN DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT

EMA Award

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 27, 2018) … The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) yesterday presented FandangoNOW, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and Vubiquity with “Digi” Awards for notable achievements in digital video entertainment. The awards were announced at EMA’s Digital Media Pipeline, held at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

FandangoNOW received the Innovation “Digi” Award for its “Binge Bundles,” a first-of-its-kind rental initiative that allows consumers to rent multiple movies in one package at a discounted price. The award is given to a company that has demonstrated note-worthy innovation through its technology or programming to enhance the consumer experience of digital entertainment. Accepting for Fandango was Cameron Douglas, Vice President of Home Entertainment.

The Content Provider “Digi” Award, which recognizes a company supplying a movie, television program or other audio-visual work, was presented to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment “for always being ready to team up on pilot programs that push toward automation.” The award was accepted by Kacy Boccumini and Kelly Bouchey, members of the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment digital operations team.

The Service and Technology Provider “Digi” Award was bestowed on Vubiquity for being a leading provider of premium content services and technology solutions and for continuing to innovate its capabilities and providing state-of-the-art products and services to transform digital video distribution. The award goes to a company that advances the development and growth of the digital video retailing sector through outstanding products and/or services. Darcy Antonellis, CEO, and Craig Heiting, EVP of Sales, accepted the award on behalf of Vubiquity.

“EMA is pleased to recognize those companies that are the advancing the business, operations, and consumer experience in the digital video marketplace,” noted EMA President and CEO Mark Fisher. “Each of these recipients is setting a standard for others to emulate.”

EMA’s Digital Media Pipeline, which began in 2008, brought together approximately 200 digital entertainment content owners, service providers, and retailers to focus on business-to-business opportunities in the digital delivery of home entertainment to consumers.

The Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) is a not-for-profit international trade association whose mission is to:

  • Protect the rights of,
  • Foster the health and vitality of, and
  • Provide a forum for

those engaged in the sale, rental, and/or commercial delivery of video or video game content to consumers through physical media or over-the-top Internet-based delivery.

EMA-member companies operate physical and digital retailing, digital platforms and streaming services around the world, offer content for retailers and streaming services, and provide service and technology for the industry. Membership comprises the full spectrum of retailers, distributors, the home video divisions of major and independent motion picture and television studios, video game publishers, and other related businesses that constitute and support the $40 billion home entertainment industry.

EMA’s activities include presenting conferences, networking, and information sharing opportunities, developing and promoting industry standards, specifications, and best practices, engaging with government entities, and producing an annual report on the industry.

EMA was established in April 2006 through the merger of the Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA), founded in 1981, and the Interactive Entertainment Merchants Association (IEMA), organized in 1997.
